Multi-million Dollar Investment For Diesel Engine 06/02/2008

The General Motors Corporation has announced that it will be investing over 60 million US dollars into a plant in Moraine in Ohio, which is responsible for the manufacture of diesel engines.

Predominantly the plant will manufacture a specific model of a heavyweight diesel engine. The General Motors Corporation has claimed that the diesel engine will be a 6.6 litre diesel engine with V-8 turbo. The investment in the diesel engine manufacture at the plant has led to over 1000 jobs being retained. The diesel engine plant may also potentially result in improvements in the plant, as well as new machinery and tooling.

In addition to maintaining jobs at the diesel engine manufacturing plant, the new engines also look set to be environmentally kind. The General Motors Corporation has suggested that the new diesel engines will implement a new form of catalytic processor and specific filters which match up to the standards outlined by new emission regulations.

The year 2010 will see the commencement of the construction of the diesel engine. The diesel engine will suit the stringent emission guidelines that are coming into force, and will comply with emission guidelines surrounding diesel engines in 50 states. The diesel engine is known as the Duramax and an earlier model was released in 2001, meeting a high level of customer satisfaction.

The General Motors Corporation not only manufactures diesel engines, but is also responsible for a number of global automobile and vehicle brands and models. These include a majority shareholding in the South Korean GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co, as well as alliances with Suzuki, Isuzu, Toyota and Renault.
